Spotlight

Here are some quilts currently in the works. All three are inspired by my future trip to Australia! I have dreamed of traveling here my entire life, and now I finally have the opportunity to make it a reality!

Hope is a koala I created with the Australian fires of 2020 in mind. 2020 was a year that was full of so much turmoil…many people looked for hope, and that was what inspired this creation!

Hope

My children grew up watching the crocodile hunter on the discovery channel. This Koala was inspired by my children’s love for nature, the beauty and perseverance of Bindi Irwin, and the love that the Irwins have shown to animals of all shapes and sizes.

Clarence is my first attempt at creating a koala out of fabric. I was inspired to make koalas due to my future travels to the Australian continent.

Koko was a female gorilla born at the San Francisco zoo on July 4th, 1971. That just so happens to be the year my family and I left California. Koko stands for “firework child,” which seemed all too perfect for my mystical rendition of a gorilla.

KOKO

Gloria was created in honor of the many births of hippos throughout zoos from Denver all the way to Florida. My youngest daughter came up with the name, inspired by Madagascar.

Najin and Fatu are a mother and daughter duo. They are the LAST remaining Northern White Rhinos in the world. Sudan, the only male and father to Najin died in 2018.
